Short version: there is no account, and your bibliography never leaves your browser.

What stays on your device

Saved citations, your chosen citation style and your light or dark preference are written to this browser's local storage. They are not sent to us and we cannot read them. Clearing your browser data deletes them, so export anything you need to keep.

Who sees a request when you generate a citation

Lookups are made from your browser directly to the catalogue that holds the record: Crossref, Open Library or PubMed. Those services receive the identifier you searched for and your IP address, under their own privacy policies. We do not proxy or log those requests.

Analytics and advertising

We measure aggregate page views without cookies and without cross-site identifiers. If advertising is introduced it will sit below the generator, never between your input and your result, and this page will say so before it launches.
